Mount Sinai Surgery Associates Now Has an Office in Brooklyn
We are proud to establish an office in the Kensington neighborhood in Brooklyn. At this center, we aim to facilitate all aspects of the care of Gastrointestinal Disorders, by coordinating with Brooklyn Gastroenterologists, William and Jonathan Erber, MD. We will be able to coordinate both medical care (Gastroenterology) and surgical care (Abdominal / Gastrointestinal Surgery) of a wide range of Digestive disorders. As many gastrointestinal problems can be treated with non-surgical therapies and endoscopy, the Drs. Erbers are able to medically treat these problems, coordinating with our surgeons for more invasive surgical care when necessary.
The office is located at:
591 Ocean Parkway (Kensington / Midwood)

Bariatric Surgery
At our Brooklyn office, we are able to coordinate a multidisciplinary approach to Bariatric Surgery evaluations. Due to the complex nature of bariatric surgery, a thorough, multi-step process is necessary in order to qualify for surgery.
Initial evaluations are performed by our Surgical team, nutritionist, and gastroenterologist, all of which can be completed at our Brooklyn office. Other consultations required before surgery such as psychology, cardiology, and pulmonology can be coordinated locally in Brooklyn. Surgery is performed at the internationally acclaimed Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, where hospital stays are typically 2 days. Afterwards, all follow up postoperative care can be in Brooklyn with our multidisciplinary team.
Nutrition For Weight Loss Surgery
Support for your weight loss journey continues long after you have recovered from your surgery. Bariatric surgery is only the first step in losing weight. The change demands a lot of effort and discipline on your part, including permanently changing eating habits and behaviors to achieve and maintain your desired weight loss. Our in-house nutritionists will help you prepare for all phases of the surgery, including individualized pre and post-operative nutrition needs. They are also available for long-term nutrition counseling to help you stay on track throughout your weight loss transformation.
You will need to supplement with vitamins and minerals for the rest of your life to maintain optimal health; your nutritionist will help you choose the right supplements. A healthy lifestyle, including a sensible diet and regular exercise, will be necessary to achieve your weight loss goals. The program offers pre-operative classes, support groups, and e-communications to provide you with all the knowledge and tools you will need. The transformation process is demanding, but you don’t have to do it alone. Mount Sinai Surgical Associates will work with you through every step of this journey to make sure you reach your optimal health goals.
